Please read this before you use BleedQ. By using BleedQ you agree to these terms.
BleedQ is a training simulator for bleed management. It lets you work through simulated bleeding scenarios and see how published evidence or protocols apply to them. It is a learning tool. It is not a clinical system, a patient record, or a decision-making device, and it is not connected to any hospital system.
BleedQ was developed with Canadian medical experts and is funded by Octapharma Canada Inc., which manufactures several of the products discussed in it.
BleedQ is intended for licensed healthcare professionals in Canada. You confirm you are one when you enter the site. It is not intended for patients or the general public, and the information in it is not written for them.
This is the most important term on this page. BleedQ does not give medical advice and does not tell you how to treat a patient. It cannot see your patient, and it does not know your institution's protocols, your formulary, or your local practice.
Nothing in BleedQ replaces your own clinical judgement or your professional obligations. Every decision about a real patient remains yours, made with the information in front of you and, where appropriate, with specialist consultation. If BleedQ and your institution's protocol differ, always follow your institution's protocol.
Do not enter any real patient information into BleedQ — no names, no medical record numbers, no dates of birth, no identifying details of any kind. The scenarios are exercises, and the values you enter should be exercise values.
The simulator does not store or transmit what you enter. Your entries stay in your browser for the length of the session and are gone when you leave. Separately, if you fill in one of our contact forms, we do collect what you give us so we can respond. Our Privacy Policy explains both.
BleedQ is built from the best available evidence at the time of writing: peer-reviewed literature, guidelines from national and international bodies, recommendations from Canadian blood agencies and transfusion societies, approved Canadian product monographs, and expert clinical opinion. Each screen shows its sources and the date it was last reviewed.
Evidence moves. Guidelines are revised, monographs are updated, and practice changes. We update BleedQ from time to time, but we cannot promise that every screen reflects the most recent version of every source at the moment you read it. Check the date on the screen, and check the current product monograph before you act.
The approved Canadian product monograph always prevails. Where anything in BleedQ differs from the monograph, the monograph is correct and BleedQ is not.
Where a use is approved in Canada, BleedQ names the product and says so. Where a guideline supports a use that is not approved in Canada, BleedQ describes the class of product rather than the brand, and marks the use as not approved. Those markers are there so you can tell the difference. Decisions about off-label use are yours to make with your patient and your institution.
Product information in BleedQ is a summary, not a substitute for the monograph. The full monograph is linked from every product page and contains information on adverse reactions, interactions and dosing that BleedQ does not repeat. Please review the complete Product Monograph for complete details.
BleedQ reproduces and adapts clinical protocols, algorithms and guidelines created by other organisations and authors. Those works remain theirs, and we credit them on every screen and on our attributions page. We claim no ownership of them. The BleedQ platform, its design and its original content belong to Octapharma.
BleedQ is not a channel for urgent clinical or safety matters. If you need to report an adverse event or ask a medical information question, use the forms provided or contact Octapharma Canada directly. Adverse events are handled under applicable pharmacovigilance requirements.
You use BleedQ on the basis that it is a training tool and that clinical decisions are yours. We prepare the content carefully, but we do not promise that it is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for any particular patient or situation. BleedQ is provided as it is.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Octapharma Canada Inc. accepts no liability for any loss, damage, cost, or clinical outcome arising from your use of BleedQ or from reliance on anything in it. This includes any decision you make, or do not make, after using it. Accepting this is a condition of using BleedQ.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
We may change, update or withdraw BleedQ or any part of it, and we may change these terms. The date at the foot of this page tells you when they were last revised. Continuing to use BleedQ means you accept the current version.
BleedQ is currently available in English; a French version will follow. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Questions about these terms can be sent to Octapharma Canada Inc. through the contact form.
